Lovely Meditation Day on Saturday

walkingLast Saturday we had a lovely meditation day. The weather was perfect and the energy was so peaceful and serene. It was the perfect way to celebrate Ayya’s ordination, the anniversary of the founding of the Bhikkhuni order, the Uposatha and spring.

Ten of us was the perfect number for the size of the space. Enough to really generate some beautiful peaceful group energy. Not too many to feel crowded or cramped.

walkWe began the day around 7am with basic meditation instruction and then spent the morning alternating sitting meditation with walking meditation. The peaceful energy was so strong.

Mary and Joanna looked after setting up a tasty healthy lunch of pumpkin soup, smokey baked potatoes and fresh crusty bread along with the dishes people had brought to share: Flakey pastries, creamy curry, crisp and crunchy salads, fruit and cake.

Bhante Sumedha honoured us with his presence for the blessings, puja and dana. After lunch we returned to sitting and walking meditation until 3 when we gathered for a Dhamma talk and discussion. One more walk and sit and then we enjoyed some closing chanting and some companionable talk as the closing of a wonderful uplifting day.

Thank you to all of the meditators who came to share this special first daylong meditation retreat day with us. Thank you to the BSSA for its support in organising the day. Thank you to Bhnate Sumedha for sharing blessings with us and thank you to Ayya Santacai for leading the meditation throughout the day.
